Environmental Mentorships and Public Lands Opportunities for Youth
Providing Opportunities for young adults, Diversifying our workforce
EMPLOY creates the next generation of public land stewards by empowering youth to jumpstart careers in outdoor recreation and land management. The Environmental Mentorships and Public Lands Opportunities for Youth (EMPLOY) Program pairs diverse high school and university students with graduate student mentors to work on urgent conservation projects in Colorado. Young mentees gain leadership skills and resume-building experiences working with agencies like the NPS, BLM and USFS. Mentorship and guidance from faculty and students supports underserved students in pursuit of higher education. Diversifying our federal workforce safeguards public lands and the EMPLOY program provides experiences to help youth transition inspirational outdoor recreation experiences into land management careers.
